In today's busy world, it can be hard to pinpoint an exact balance between gratitude and ambition.
On one hand, we have people constantly telling us to be grateful for what we have. The tonality in which this is stated often implies that we should refrain from the pursuit of anything greater.
On the other hand, there are those who insist on never being satisfied. These people stress the importance of constantly being on the grind, as if life was "all work, no play".
"You should always be hungry for more!" they might say.
At first glance, it might seem like these two are mutually exclusive. They are not.
In fact, the juxtaposition created when going from nothing to greatness oftentimes results in gratitude.
The concept of "staying hungry" or "staying on the grind" is really about recognizing how much more you could improve. It's about having an honest conversation with yourself and asking - "Is this really all I've got? Or can I do more? Can I go further?"
Regarding gratitude, this about taking small pauses in life to look around at where you are now. It's easy to miss how far you've come because of how far you still have to go. By taking these moments to reflect, you can learn to appreciate the efforts made and the subsequent fruits of your labor.
Take time to appreciate your journey, just don't lose sight of the destination.
