"Know your own body."
This is something stated in many different training environments, oftentimes moving towards some very different goals.
The reason this is important beyond what's already obvious is that it saves time and makes every bit of effort worthwhile.
If someone knows how far to push their body and when to rest, they can challenge themselves without actually overtraining.
If they know how to recover well (which is a science of its own), then they can further optimize the next iteration of training.
Every minute spent either training or recovering is spent well.
Those who don't know their own body tend to do one of two things. They either overtrain and end up injured or they take it too easy on themselves and never make any real progress.
Knowing oneself is a process that demands a lot of time and attention.
However, knowing one's body and its limits is an investment into the quality of one's future.
We each decide the quality of life we will lead.
